The NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-6 MCX653105A-EFAT is a 1-port InfiniBand/Ethernet VPI adapter using ConnectX-6's single-slot Socket Direct design — a PCIe x16 edge connector wired as two PCIe x8 lanes "in a row," each routable to a different CPU socket in a dual-socket server. This delivers Socket Direct's latency and CPU-utilization benefits from a single physical card and slot, without the auxiliary card and harnesses required by the dual-slot Socket Direct kits, at the cost of requiring a system with a custom PCIe x16 slot wired for the special Socket Direct pinout. Built on the ConnectX-6 (MT28908A0-XCCF-HVM) controller, its single QSFP56 port runs up to 100Gb/s — HDR100/EDR InfiniBand or 100GbE — with sub-600ns latency, hardware RDMA, SR-IOV and the full ConnectX-6 in-network computing feature set. It targets system integrators building custom dual-socket HPC/AI platforms with a compatible backplane.
