The NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-6 MCX651105A-EDAT is a 1-port InfiniBand/Ethernet Virtual Protocol Interconnect (VPI) adapter in a half-height, half-length PCIe form factor. Built on the ConnectX-6 (MT28908A0-XCCF-HVM) silicon, it connects through a PCIe 3.0/4.0 x8 edge connector to a single QSFP56 port delivering up to 100Gb/s — HDR100 or EDR InfiniBand, or 100GbE — from the same physical port, selectable in firmware. Sub-600ns latency, hardware RDMA/RoCEv2, and NVIDIA's in-network computing accelerations (adaptive routing, tag matching, rendezvous and burst-buffer offload) make it well suited to HPC clusters, AI training nodes and storage fabrics that need VPI flexibility without a full x16 slot. SR-IOV, ASAP² OVS offload and NVGRE/VXLAN overlay offload extend the same efficiency to virtualized and cloud environments. The x8 edge connector makes the MCX651105A-EDAT a natural fit for servers with limited PCIe slot bandwidth that still need 100Gb/s-class interconnect.
