The NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-5 Ex EN MCX546A-BCAN is a dual-port 50 Gigabit Ethernet adapter built on the OCP 2.0 mezzanine form factor, designed for server vendors and hyperscale operators standardizing on the earlier-generation Open Compute Project card format. Connecting through a PCIe 3.0 x16 host interface, it provides two 50G QSFP28 ports with hardware-accelerated RoCE v2 RDMA for low-latency, CPU-efficient data movement across storage and compute fabrics. Built on the ConnectX-5 Ex chipset, the card supports NVMe-oF storage offload, SR-IOV network virtualization, and overlay network acceleration for VXLAN, GENEVE, and NVGRE traffic. As an OCP 2.0 mezzanine card, it mounts directly onto the motherboard mezzanine connector rather than a PCIe slot, freeing rack space and easing cable management in dense, high-density server deployments across cloud, enterprise, and telecom infrastructure.
