The NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-4 MCX455A-FCAT is a single-port Virtual Protocol Interconnect (VPI) adapter delivering 56Gb/s InfiniBand FDR or 56GbE Ethernet connectivity over a single QSFP28 port. Unlike the dual-port MCX454A-FCAT, the MCX455A-FCAT pairs its single port with a full PCIe 3.0 x16 host interface, giving that port generous host-side bandwidth headroom well beyond what a single 56Gb/s link requires — useful in servers where slot availability favors an x16 card even for single-port connectivity. Built around the Mellanox MT27704A0-FDCF-FV controller, it supports both native InfiniBand RDMA and RoCE v2, making it suitable for HPC compute nodes, storage targets, and virtualized hosts that need low-latency, CPU-offloaded networking.
