Product Description

The NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-4 MCX453A-FCAT is a single-port Virtual Protocol Interconnect (VPI) adapter card that can operate as either a 56Gb/s InfiniBand FDR port or a 56GbE Ethernet port through the same QSFP28 connector, giving data center architects flexibility to deploy one adapter design across both InfiniBand-based HPC clusters and Ethernet-based cloud fabrics. Built on the ConnectX-4 controller (MT27704A0-FDCF-FV) and connecting to the host over a PCIe 3.0 x8 interface, the card supports native InfiniBand RDMA transport as well as RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE v2) when configured in Ethernet mode. This dual-protocol capability makes the MCX453A-FCAT well suited to HPC and AI/ML clusters that rely on InfiniBand for low-latency compute fabric interconnects, while also supporting Ethernet-based storage or management networks from the same adapter family. Port protocol is configured through NVIDIA firmware/driver tools rather than fixed at manufacture.
