Product Description

The Magewell Ultra Encode HDMI Plus Module is a highly integrated hardware video encoder module that installs into a Modator 2U chassis via a hot-swappable Modator interface, converting HDMI 1.4a or DVI-D signals into H.264 or H.265 (HEVC) streams in real time. The module provides one HDMI input and one HDMI loop-through output, along with a 3.5mm analog audio input and output for independent audio capture or monitoring. The encoder supports dual-stream (main stream + sub stream) simultaneous output, with a maximum encoding resolution of 4096x2160 at 30fps and up to 8 audio streams encoded concurrently. Supported streaming protocols include NDI HX2 / NDI HX3, SRT, RTMP / RTMPS, RTSP, HLS, TS over UDP / RTP, and TVU ISSP, with simultaneous delivery to up to 6 destinations. An included 128 GB Micro-SD card supports local recording, and files can also be saved to external USB storage or network-attached storage (NAS). All configuration is handled through a Web UI, with optional integration into Magewell Control Hub for centralized remote management — suitable for broadcast, live event production, remote production and enterprise streaming.

How does this module differ from the standalone Ultra Encode HDMI?

The Ultra Encode HDMI Plus Module uses a Modator modular design and must be installed in a Modator 2U chassis; it supports hot-swappable replacement and suits centralized multi-channel encoder deployments. The standalone Ultra Encode HDMI is a self-contained unit. Both share a similar encoding core; the choice depends on rack integration requirements at the installation site.

What is the maximum encoding resolution and frame rate?

The main stream supports up to 4096x2160p or 3840x2160p at a maximum of 30fps. At resolutions of 2560x1440p and below, the frame rate can reach up to 60fps. The sub stream supports up to 1920

How many simultaneous streaming destinations are supported?

Up to 6 destinations simultaneously. RTSP, SRT Listener, HLS, and TVU ISSP share 1 session slot; NDI HX2 can occupy up to 2 sessions; NDI HX3 operates in an exclusive single-session mode.

Where can recorded files be stored?

Files can be recorded to the included 128 GB Micro-SD card (local storage), to external USB storage (FAT32, exFAT, NTFS), or to NAS (NFS, CIFS). After recording, files can be automatically uploaded to an FTP server, Google Drive, or Dropbox.

There is no physical control panel — how is the device configured and monitored?

All configuration is handled through the Web UI, which supports Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera. The Web UI provides real-time encoded video preview, stream status monitoring, recording task management, and firmware upgrade. Multiple devices can be managed remotely via Magewell Control Hub, and an HTTP API is available for integration with third-party control systems.
