Product Description
The Broadcom eHBA 9600-8i8e is a hybrid internal/external Tri-Mode host bus adapter in the 9600 series, built for servers that need to connect both internal drive bays and an external storage enclosure from a single PCIe slot. Powered by the SAS4016 I/O Controller (IOC), it provides 8 internal ports over one x8 SFF-8654 (SlimLine) connector and 8 external ports over two x4 SFF-8674 (Ext Mini HD) connectors, all driven by a single x8 PCIe Gen 4.0 host interface. Like the other 9600 eHBAs, it is a pure IT-mode pass-through adapter with no onboard RAID, cache or CacheVault, exposing drives directly to the OS, hypervisor or software-defined storage stack. Tri-Mode SerDes technology allows NVMe, SAS and SATA devices to run concurrently across both internal and external ports, with support for up to 240 SAS/SATA or 32 NVMe devices in total. Hardware Secure Boot, SPDM attestation and SafeStore SED key management provide platform-level security.
