Product Description
The Broadcom MegaRAID 9580-8i8e is a PCIe Gen 4.0 RAID controller from the MegaRAID 9500 series, the industry's first PCIe Gen4 RAID adapter family offering both PCIe Gen 4.0 host and storage interfaces. Built on the SAS3916 high-port-count RAID-on-Chip (RoC), it delivers up to twice the performance of previous-generation controllers while combining 8 internal SAS/SATA/NVMe ports (one x8 SFF-8654 connector) with 8 external ports (two x4 SFF-8644 connectors) for direct-attached expansion enclosures. Broadcom's Tri-Mode SerDes technology lets the adapter operate NVMe, SAS and SATA devices concurrently in the same drive bay, and its low-profile design with a form-factor-friendly cable exit suits compact rack-mount chassis. The 9580-8i8e is compatible with existing PCIe SFF-8639 Module (U.2) backplanes and, together with the SFF-TA-1001 (U.3) specification and Universal Backplane Management (UBM) framework, enables a non-disruptive path toward higher-bandwidth NVMe storage. The controller includes 8GB of cache memory backed by CacheVault flash-based protection (CVPM05) and supports RAID levels 0, 00, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6 and 60.
