Product Description
The Broadcom MegaRAID 9524-8i is Broadcom's first M.2 form-factor MegaRAID storage adapter, built to free up a full PCIe slot in space-constrained servers. The card mounts directly in an M.2 slot while still exposing eight internal SAS/SATA/NVMe ports through a single x8 SFF-8654 (SlimSAS) connector. Built on the SAS3808 I/O controller with Broadcom's Tri-Mode SerDes technology, it negotiates protocol and speed automatically, letting NVMe, SAS and SATA drives operate in the same drive bay. Running Broadcom's MegaRAID iMR entry RAID firmware, the 9524-8i supports JBOD mode and RAID 0, 1 and 10 without requiring a Reserved Memory Region Reporting (RMRR) structure, so it integrates cleanly into designs lacking a dedicated memory reservation. With a 16GT/s PCIe Gen 4.0 x8 host interface, 12Gb/s SAS transfer rates, hardware Secure Boot, and a typical power draw of just 6.0W, the 9524-8i is a compact, affordable Tri-Mode RAID option for entry servers and workstations.
