Product Description
The Broadcom HBA 9502-16i brings Tri-Mode SAS/SATA/NVMe host bus adapter connectivity to the OCP 3.0 NIC small form factor (SFF), letting system integrators mount storage connectivity in an OCP mezzanine slot instead of a standard PCIe card slot. Built on Broadcom's SAS3816 Tri-Mode I/O Controller and an x8 PCIe Gen 4.0 host interface, it ships in IT mode as a pure pass-through adapter, presenting each attached device directly to the host OS or SDS stack with no hardware RAID layer. Sixteen internal ports are delivered through two vertical x8 SFF-8654 connectors, and Tri-Mode SerDes technology lets NVMe, SAS and SATA devices operate concurrently through the same ports. Sharing its silicon platform and connector layout with the MegaRAID-class 9562-16i OCP RAID adapter, the 9502-16i is the pass-through counterpart of that family, freeing a standard PCIe slot for other uses while keeping full driver and management-tool compatibility with the rest of the Broadcom 9500 series.
