Product Description
The Broadcom BCM57417 is a dual-port 10GBASE-T Ethernet controller IC from the NetXtreme E-Series family, built for OEM board designs that require integrated copper 10GbE connectivity without an external PHY chip. As the base-feature counterpart to the BCM57416, it targets designs where standard IEEE 802.3an 10GBASE-T copper connectivity and driver-stack commonality matter more than RDMA offload. The chip integrates the 10GBASE-T PHY on-die, reducing bill-of-materials and simplifying board layout compared with discrete MAC-plus-PHY solutions, while auto-negotiating down to 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-TX for backward compatibility with existing cabling. A PCIe Gen3 x8 host interface, stateless TCP/UDP/IP offloads, SR-IOV, and NIC Partitioning (NPAR) round out a feature set aimed at server LOM segments and PCIe add-in copper NIC designs. As bare silicon, the BCM57417 is intended for OEM hardware engineering teams to reflow-solder onto qualified PCB layouts, not for sale as a finished network card.
