Challenge
A national broadcaster needed to modernize their aging SDI-based production infrastructure. The existing setup required extensive cabling, dedicated routing switchers, and on-site personnel for every production. They wanted to transition to IP-based workflows to enable remote production and reduce operational costs.
Solution
MT Technology designed an NDI-based production workflow using Magewell Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus encoders at each camera position, Magewell Ultra Encode HDMI Plus for main program encoding, and Magewell Pro Convert Decoder units for confidence monitoring. The entire system runs over standard Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure.
Results
The broadcaster reduced physical cabling by 70%, enabled remote production from their headquarters for regional events, and cut per-event production costs by approximately 45%. The NDI workflow also enabled seamless integration with their existing vMix and OBS-based editing pipelines.
