Challenge
A leading cloud service provider in Southeast Asia needed to upgrade their storage infrastructure to support growing AI training workloads. The existing setup relied on older RAID controllers that couldn't keep pace with the throughput demands of modern NVMe drives and GPU-accelerated compute nodes.
Solution
MT Technology provided Broadcom MegaRAID 9560-16i controllers across 120 storage nodes, each paired with CacheVault CVPM05 flash-backed write cache modules for data protection during power events. All nodes were interconnected using SFF-8643 SAS cables for maximum reliability. The deployment included full thermal validation, firmware tuning, and integration testing with the client's existing Ceph storage cluster.
Results
The deployment achieved 2.4x sequential read throughput improvement over the previous generation controllers. Write latency was reduced by 35% under mixed workloads. The CacheVault modules successfully protected against 3 unplanned power events during the first quarter of operation, with zero data loss. Overall storage TCO was reduced by approximately 20% through consolidation.
